  • In the Research Assessment Exercise 2008, Coventry was rated as ‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ in every academic faculty.
  • The University submitted research from 16 subject areas, almost two thirds of which was rated as international, internationally excellent or world-leading.
  • Seven out of 16 research areas received the highest rating of 4* in overall quality or ‘world-leading’. These were: Allied Health and Professional Studies; Art and Design; Computer Science and Informatics; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Library and Information Management; Politics and International Studies; Social Work and Social Policy Administration.
  • 81% of subject areas improved their scores from the 2001 RAE.

Variety of Courses

Coventry University’s courses are vocationally-focused and strongly linked to industry to remain relevant, practical and up to date.

  • There are five academic faculties, covering 66 undergraduate subject areas and 43 postgraduate areas.
  • Pre-sessional English Language programmes and qualifying language programmes are available to overseas students, as well as flexible start dates.
  • Links to leading businesses and the public and voluntary sectors allow students to access project and placement opportunities. This allows students to tailor their learning to their career aspirations and put their skills into practice.

Location

Coventry University’s main campus sits on a 33-acre site in the heart of the city. £160 million is being invested in the enhancement of this campus over the next ten years. The university campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled and houses more than 2,400 student PCs, making it a truly ‘smart campus’. Facilities include a £16 million library, which is home to 1,200 study areas, and the £5 million Student Centre, which houses a range of student support services. The University also has a range of high-tech facilities for teaching and learning, such as the 20-acre Coventry Technology Park.

The city of Coventry is the 8th largest city in England and is located right in the centre of the country. There are superb transport links to the rest of the UK. Birmingham airport is just 15 minutes away and London is only one hour by train. Coventry itself has come a long way from its industrial origins and major redevelopments have transformed the city into a modern blend of urban design and historic architecture. The historic Cathedral Quarter is located right next door to the University. The city is home to a range of music and arts venues, open park spaces, sports facilities and museums, as well as a range of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.  Near to Coventry is Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, Royal Leamington Spa and the castles of Kenilworth and Warwick.
