Research Quality

During the most recent UK Government’s Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) the research from Bangor University was ranked amongst the best in the UK.

Employable Graduates

Students as Bangor enjoy high employability  and careers advice before and after graduation:

  • 60% of graduates from Bangor are in employment within 6 months according to the Destination of Leavers of Higher Education Survey (DHLE).
  • A further 10% of graduates continued to both work and study 6 months after graduation.
  • The Careers and Employability service provides all students individual advice and access to job vacancies during and after study.


Variety of Courses

Bangor has 27 schools, organised into 5 colleges, offering a great choice of study programmes at various levels, which attract high calibre students from around the world.

  • There are five academic colleges: Arts, Education & Humanities, Business, Social Sciences & Law, Natural Sciences, Health & Behavioural Sciences, Physical & Applied Sciences
  • Through the English Language Centre for Overseas Students (ELCOS) students can develop their English Languages skills through a number of courses including summer courses, pre-sessional courses, Cambridge courses and IELTS testing.
  • A great range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses are available, including an MBA programme which awards Chartered Banker status.



Situated near to the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia and with the sea close by, Bangor is one of the most attractive study locations in the UK.  The city is safe, compact and cost effective with one of the lowest crime rates and cost of living of any university city. 

Bangor is home to one of the oldest cathedrals in the UK, St. Deiniol’s, and is close to the Snowdonia National Park. The town also has a traditional Victorian pier which reaches into the Menai Straits, as well as two bridges linking to Anglesey.  Mount Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales is only half an hour outside the city. Bangor’s large student population ensures that the community is lively and welcoming. As one of the most cost-effective places to study in the UK, students at Bangor mostly live within walking distance of the city centre and university facilities.

Only 90 minutes from Manchester International Airport and 3.5 hours from London by hourly direct train links, Bangor is both surrounded by unbeatable landscapes and well-connected to the rest of the UK and international travel. Nearby Liverpool and Manchester also provide the attractions of Premier League football matches, shopping and large entertainment venues.

Bangor also benefits from being a city free from industrialisation, making it clean and pollution-free, as well as one of the most cost-effective student cities in the UK.
